Spomenik – Forgotten Ghostly Monuments

Spomenik: The End of History.” is a book by Belgian photographer Jan Kempenaers that documents some incredible structures, commissioned by Yugoslavian president Josip Broz Tito in the 1960s and 70s, that commemorate sites where WWII battles took place.

They are an eerie, but beautiful collection of designs conceived under Socialist rule, which were almost completely lost and forgotten after the Yugoslavian Republic dissolved in 1990.
